Introducing: Falling Red

Falling Red was born in 2007 in Carlisle, UK. Influenced by stadium rock bands such as Kiss and Metallica, they soon developed their own style and started writing their own material, giging relentlessly before being signed to Rocksector Records in 2009. They released their debut album ‘Shake The Faith’ in March 2010. One unexpected fan of the band was Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) who particularly liked the track ‘Out Of Control’, giving it ample airtime on his BBC 6 Rock Show.

In April 2011, after gigging non-stop for a full year, Falling Red released a 4 track E.P entitled ‘Hasta La Victoria Siempre’ through Rocksector Records. Each of the E.P’s 4 tracks have become live favourites, including the ballad ‘The Last Kiss Goodbye’, and the sing-along anthem ‘If You Aint’ Down With The Rock’. Off the back of this release, they secured a performance at Hard Rock Hell VI, as well as tour dates in support of Sebastian Bach, Magnum and GUN.

The beginning of 2012 saw the addition of two new members – Rhythm guitarist Jayde Starr & bass player Dann Marx. This resulted in influencing the musical direction of the band, building upon the massive amount of groundwork put in by vocalist Rozey and drummer Dave Sanders.

The band were the main support to Steel Panther for the duration of their November UK tour. A brand new single, ‘We are Reckless’, was released on November 5th 2012.

Falling Red did their own headline UK ‘Rock Revolution Tour’ in March 2013, before returning to write new material. A PledgeMusic campaign was launched in April to raise funds towards the recording of the album, ‘Empire Of The Damned’, due for release in January 2014. The band smashed their target and hit 100% within 5 days of launching the project.

Songs to listen to: We Escaped A Cult, We Are Reckless, Out Of Control and Come On Down.

Crimsonic: looking to 2014

Earlier this month, I was able to catch up with Turre from the band Crimsonic and ask him a few questions, here is what’s happening for them in 2013 and beyond:

Who are Crimsonic?

We are Turre on vocals & guitar, Jake on lead guitar &backing vocals,  Anssi  on bass and our former drummer  JNE Pasanen.

For people that don’t know anything about Crimsonic and your music, how would you describe it to them?

Crimsonic plays melodic Rock / Hard Rock, with influences from practically all rock related genres.

How did the band start? Where does your name come from?

All members of the band knew each other from previous bands and projects. The name really just came up by accident.

What’s your favourite song of that you’ve written to play and why?

Roadblock is probably in the “Live Top 3” with all of us. Personally, Another Night and Reason too.

So far where has been your favourite place to play a gig?

One of the best places was the Elojuhlat festival in Hyvinkää, in 2012.

Where do you most want to play?

We want to play all around the world.

Right now, who is your favourite band/artist?

We all have different likes, so it’s impossible to name just one. Jake and myself both like Alter Bridge a lot.

What or who influences you?

Life in general, our families and friends too in some songs.

If you weren’t involved in music, what would you be doing?

We would quit what we’re doing and start a band. Or play professional hockey in the NHL.

Your songs are in English, is it just because you prefer to sing in English?

That too. We think our music suits a bigger crowd than just Finland.

How do you go about writing your songs?

All of us come up with ideas that we work on together. I mostly writes the lyrics, but everyone’s more involved in it now than before. It brings more variety to the songs.

Where can people find out more information about you and listen to some of your songs?

We’re a most active on our Facebook page but also post all the important news on our homepage (crimsonicband.com). Also follow us on Twitter (@crimsonicband).

What does the rest of 2013 hold for you?

Filling the drummer slot and writing and rehearsing new stuff. We have bigger plans for 2014.

One last message to readers?

2014 is gonna be wicked, so stay tuned!

Introducing Overworld

Overworld is an alternative metal band hailing from Stockholm, Sweden. Formed in 2012, the band’s members are musicians from other Swedish underground acts such as Still Echo and Kyrielle. They consider their music to be ‘adrenaline rock ‘n’ roll metal’, and have been steadily gaining recognition for their live shows, fresh take on the rock/metal genre(s) and the close relationship with their ever-expanding fan-base, mainly through social media.

Overworld is made up of Endigo on Vocals, Kaz and Nikke on Guitars,  Lynx on Bass and Andie on Drums.

The band’s debut EP, ‘Perfect Anomaly’, was released digitally worldwide on May 25th 2012, and reached the top of iTunes Sweden. A music video for the track ‘Until We’re Dead’ was released in September. In June 2013, Overworld released a new single ‘My Reality’ along with a music video for the track. They have also played at Sweden Rock Festival, one of the World’s Biggest Rock and Metal festivals.

So far they have only played gigs in Sweden, but on 14th September they will play a show in Tampere, Finland as part of Tracon 8 (a 2-day convention).

The band is currently unsigned, despite a large following. They can be found on Facebook or on Twitter.

Roadside Story Release debut album ‘Kings of The Underground’

Finnish Rock Trio, Roadside Story have released their debut album Kings of the Underground via Casket music. The album contains eight tracks and already has two music videos for the songs In the Eye of The Wind and A Million Voices, which can both be found on YouTube. Their first official single In the Eye of The Wind has received airplay in countries such as Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, America and Mexico.

Make (Vocals and Guitars) said ‘We’re really excited release our debut album after a few issues caused a delay but it feels great to finally be able to share our songs with our fans. We’re looking forward to playing over Finland and Europe, meeting new people and having fun! I love a lot of guitarists, composers and amazing guitar solos, but nowadays I can’t hear a great number of solos that I admire. We want to fix that with this album.’

Sons of Metal reviewed the album and said: “The new Guns’n’Roses are here and coming straight of Finland with a debut album, Kings Of The Underground. […]This album’s particularity is to leave no room for boredom with a succession of global hits. No cheesy ballads, just a series of riffs, each more exciting than the last and a nice voice, fitting and well-pitched, never excessive.”

Roadside Story was formed in 2009 when MAke (Vocals and Guitars), and his brother Jukkis, (Drums and Percussions), started to play and compose music together and record songs in their home studio, Jake (Bass) joined them soon after to complete the line-up. When listening you can hear their influences from many different classic rock bands over different decades, creating killer songs with lots of solos.

The band can currently be found on tour in Finland to support the release of Kings of The Underground, the songs are also available to purchase on iTunes and Spotify.
